LA Bus Accident Lawyers List the Top Causes of School Bus Accidents in Lafayette

There have been a significant number of school bus accidents occurring in the City of Lafayette and many locals might be wondering why. Well, the staff at The Adviser must have been thinking the same thing as the source recently reported on the issue, highlighting the causes of the 18 bus accidents that have occurred so far this year. If you’re interested in knowing what they are, we have provided that information for you below:

  • Four of the bus collisions that occurred were all attributed to another vehicle that rear-ended the bus.
  • Four of the accidents occurred because the bus driver hit a fixed object or parked car.
  • Three wrecks transpired because the bus driver operating the vehicle backed up into an object or a parked car.
  • Two crashes occurred after the buses rear-ended another vehicle.
  • Another two accidents were tail swing wrecks. And according to Busride.com, these “are among the most common types of accidents in the school bus and motorcoach industry.”
  • Two more wrecks were caused by another vehicle sideswiping a bus.
  • One accident occurred because a driver failed to yield to the bus.

Among the 18 accidents that occurred, most were caused by the bus driver that either hit or backed up into a fixed object or parked car. Some of the other main causes of bus accidents involved a driver that failed to yield for the bus or other vehicles crossing into the bus lane of travel. Last year, a total of 69 wrecks occurred involving school buses and 81 crashes were recorded the year before that. The school system’s transportation director, Damon Evans, has spoken out regarding the increased number of bus collisions in Lafayette and said that officials are working to re-train drivers who are involved in wrecks where they were at-fault in hopes of preventing another one from occurring.

Evans also stated that the department takes a look at these accidents and sees where they “are messing up” on their side and “try to get into specializing areas where a professional comes in and gives different training.” The department also places a particular emphasis on training new drivers as a majority of the accidents that occur involve those with less experience in operating buses.

Victims of school bus accidents are sometimes entitled to collect compensation for the damage caused by the collision. To learn more about how you can collect compensation for the recent bus accident you were involved in, contact a Lafayette accident lawyer today.

While it is important that we recognize a need for improvement so that fewer bus accidents occur, that won’t help those students and/or others who have already sustained an injury in one of these accidents. The fact is, bus accident injuries can be serious, and even fatal, and those who are left to suffer do so physically and financially. If you or your child were the victim of a school bus accident in Lafayette and would like to learn about the options you have in terms of how you can recover compensation for things like medical expenses and suffering, the Lafayette bus accident lawyers at Andress|Inzinawould be more than happy to provide you with the information you are seeking.

Accident Lawyers in Chula Vista Explain Why it is Crucial for You to Hire an Accident Attorney After Suffering Injuries in a Collison

Many individuals often wonder whether or not they should retain an accident attorney after suffering an injury in a car crash. The truth is, not always is it necessary to hire a lawyer but if you are hoping to recover a decent amount of compensation to cover your damages, you stand a better chance at achieving this when you have legal representation supporting you and working behind you. In fact, here are some details from a recent case that was handled by accident lawyer Bruce S. Meth, Esq.that proves just how helpful a lawyer can be when a victim if left to suffer from an accident that was caused by the negligence of another.

Three Plaintiffs Win $500,000 Settlement in Drunk Driving Accident Case

It was May 18thwhen attorney Bruce Meth’s client was riding in a 2010 Chevy Camaro being driven by a motorist who was under the influence of alcohol. Because of his inability to drive cautiously and attentively, which are only some of the effects alcohol can have on a driver while they are operating a motor vehicle, he attempted to make a lane change on a San Diego freeway but ended up sideswiping another vehicle. He then slammed into a guardrail and aside from the damage that both vehicles sustained, many of the victims sustained injuries. The passenger, who was being represented by Law Offices of Bruce S. Meth, was left with a concussion and she suffered from post-concussive syndrome. Some of the other symptoms she suffered from as a result of the drunk driving accident included headaches, vertigo, droopy eye, memory loss, and she even sustained soft tissue injuries to her neck and back.

As you can imagine, this woman was left suffering in pain and will likely need to receive continued medical care for all the injuries she sustained. While the insurance company probably offered her a low-ball settlement, because she had an aggressive and skilled San Diego accident attorney working behind her, the woman was able to obtain a settlement that she was satisfied with. The settlement agreement was made at mediation rather than at trial and a payment of $500,000 was made to all three plaintiffs and was split equally among them all.

What are the advantages of hiring a personal injury lawyer who specializes in handling car accident cases?

If you were involved in an accident that left you suffering from a serious injury or even a disability, it is time you speak with an accident lawyer who can fight for the compensation you are rightfully due.

One of the advantages an accident victim has when they are represented by a qualified lawyer is that their attorney is going to use any and all evidence that is available to help get their client a favorable outcome in their case. For instance, in this particular case, not only did the woman’s lawyer make it a point to list all the injuries she suffered from, but he included that the driver had a prior history of drunk driving convictions which may have contributed to the increase in the settlement amount.

So, if you were involved in an accident that was caused by a negligent or careless driver and are looking to collect compensation for your injuries, contact San Diego accident lawyer Bruce S. Meth. He will assess the details of your accident and work to get you the maximum settlement possible.

You can reach the Law Offices of Bruce S. Meth at:

If you are debating whether or not to hire an attorney to help fight for your personal injuries, it’s important to understand how much influence a lawyer can have on your case. The benefits are many, and if you are aiming for maximum compensation to meet your needs, having an experienced personal injury attorney is one of the best assets to have.

Our team of accident lawyers in Lakewood will work tirelessly on your claim so you don’t have to accept a smaller settlement than you deserve.

Insurance companies are notorious for attempting to take advantage of victims, who they view as negatively affecting their bottom lines. An attorney will work to make sure your rights are firmly protected, and they will have the appropriate methods to work with the insurance companies to ensure you are given the fairest assessment. Many people who decide to pursue compensation from insurance companies are unsure of the road ahead, and they are unsure of how the process will go to ensure they receive the money they need to cover their medical expenses. A lawyer can assist you throughout the process, and work directly with the insurance companies to enable you to focus on healing; not fighting for what you deserve.

An injury attorney will help advocate for your case in the most effective manner. Your claim will be filed, and all necessary forms of evidence will be provided to ensure a fair and adequate settlement is achieved. Our aim at Andress | Inzina, LLC is to ensure you the best outcome while keeping your costs and expenses low, and doing it all in a timely manner.

Another possible instance to keep in mind is in the possibility of the insurance company denying your claim and insisting on issuing an unfair settlement. With a skilled attorney, you can expect the case to get pushed harder, and filing additional lawsuits will not be out of the equation in order to secure the most beneficial conclusion for you.

Different Personal Injury Accidents

There are many different types of injuries that are considered to be “personal injury.” Most accidents that have been caused as a result of the negligence or carelessness of another person can be personal injury accidents. Some of the most common include slip and fall accidents, car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, boat accidents, dog bites, and accidents that involve bicyclists or pedestrians.

When it comes to personal injury lawsuits, having a lawyer can be highly important, as having an advocate who can pursue the law on your behalf will save you time, stress, and can ensure a better final outcome. In many cases, you will have to file your case in the specified time frame time according to the statute of limitations, which varies depending on the type of accident and injury that has occurred. An attorney can help make sure this requirement is met, ensuring that the process follows the appropriate time frame.

If you have been in an accident and have suffered from personal injury as a result of someone else’s negligence, the lawyers of Andress | Inzina can help. Miami Accident Lawyer | Miami Dade Accident Lawyers Highlight Why You Should Never Attempt to Flee the Scene of an Accident

We all know that leaving the scene of an accident is illegal in Miami Dade, FL and the crime itself carries some serious consequences when committed. Unfortunately, there are many drivers who do cause accidents and then make an attempt to run away, hoping that by doing so, it will be wiped away as though it never occurred. While this is a false perception of what really happens when you engage in a hit and run accident, there was a recent collision in Miami involving bystanders who simply weren’t going to allow one driver to get away from an accident had caused.

Here’s what we know about the accident that occurred on Biscayne Boulevard.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, the driver of a silver Infiniti SUV was heading north on Biscayne Boulevard when he crossed the median into oncoming traffic and hit three vehicles. The front grille of the vehicle nearly fell off but was dragging as the driver attempted to maneuver the vehicle away from the scene of the accident in an attempt to flee. But, those who witnessed it immediately got involved as they weren’t about to let this happen without putting up a fight. In video footage that was released, you can see the driver of the Infinite attempting to turn his vehicle around but was confronted by witnesses who came up to his windows and doors demanding that he stop the vehicle. The driver, who remained persistent, continued to try and get away.

Moments later, the Infinite driver finds an opening but is then blocked by another SUV. You can then see a van stop on the opposite side of the road and out of it comes a man with a sledgehammer. The man began taking the sledgehammer to the SUV and shattered at least one of the windows on the driver’s side of the vehicle. As the motorist continued to move his vehicle in hopes of getting away, the man with the sledgehammer continued to strike the vehicle, hitting it several times before he finally finds a clearing and drives off.

Miami police caught up with the driver who was identified as 25-year-old Maxwell Lagutenko and was said to have been driving while under the influence of narcotics. He was booked into jail on charges of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and fleeing or eluding police.

If you are ever involved in a hit and run accident, always call the police and consider contacting a Miami Dade accident lawyer after as they can help you file a claim for the damage that was done.

If Lagutenko is convicted of the charges that have been pinned against him, it will only make it easier for the those who he hit to file a claim against him, or at least his insurance company in an effort to recover compensation for the damage he caused. Although there were no serious injuries reported, one victim was seen on a stretcher as EMT’s were preparing to transport them to a local hospital, and that person may be able to file a personal injury claim against the driver.

Unlike some hit and run accidents that are left with missing pieces, thankfully, with the help of the witnesses and other bystanders, the officers were able to identify the individual who caused the accident.

If you were involved in a hit and run accident recently in Miami Dade and are having trouble identifying who caused the collision, contact USAttorneys.com now. We will connect you with some of the top accident lawyers in Miami Dade who can assist with your case and work to get you the compensation you deserve.

91-Year-Old Killed in Accident After Speeding Through Red Light and Crashing into Light Pole

A San Diego woman who managed to live up until 91-years-of-age was recently involved in a car accident that took her life. The woman has been identified as Doris Lucille Guffin. According to Fox 5 San Diego, Guffin was heading southbound on the 6000 block of Mt. Alifan Drive when she collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and then hit a light pole.

Sadly, the impact from the vehicle hitting the light pole is what caused this accident to become a fatal one. The driver of the other vehicle, however, managed to walk away with minor bruises and scratches. Investigators were able to determine that Guffin had been traveling at an increased rate of speed and even ran a red light at the intersection of Mt. Abernathy and Balboa before hitting the pole.

Because Guffin was a senior citizen and was responsible for causing the crash to occur, that has led us to address the following question:

What steps can elderly individuals take to stay safer on the roads?

Did you know that in 2015, more than 40 billion licensed drivers were ages 65 and older, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention? While it is understandable that driving helps keep an older individual mobile and independent, the risk does heighten for these drivers and only continues to increase as they age. So, to help keep senior citizens stay safe and avoid sustaining a serious injury in an accident, we share some helpful tips for you below:

  1. Be sure you exercise regularly to increase your strength and flexibility.
  2. Know what side effects your medications have and whether it is safe to drive while taking them. This is something you can discuss with your doctor or pharmacist.
  3. Have your eyes checked regularly, perhaps once a year, and always wear your glasses or contacts if they are required for you to see.
  4. Plan your route before you drive.
  5. Leave a large following distance behind the car in front of you.
  6. Avoid distractions in your car such as listening to a loud radio, talking on your cell phone, texting, etc.
  7. Drive when conditions are the safest. That means you might want to avoid driving during the early morning hours and late at night as these are the times when fatal accidents tend to occur. If the weather is bad, you will also want to refrain from going out and driving until the conditions have cleared up.

If you are a senior citizen who is still able to drive, remember to keep these tips in mind so that you can decrease your chances of engaging in an accident.
  8. Consider other alternatives to driving such as riding with a friend, using public transit, or another form of public transportation that can get you from point A to point B and back.

Now, if you are a senior citizen and were recently involved in a collision, it might be in your best interest to consult with a San Diego, CA accident attorney. Even if you aren’t a senior citizen and were involved in some sort of incident in the San Diego area, contact Jeffrey E. Estes & Associates today by calling 619-233-8021. 91-Year-Old Killed in Accident After Speeding Through Red Light and Crashing into Light Pole

With St. Patrick’s Day Approaching, San Diego Drivers Need to Exert More Caution

Seeing that more and more accidents have been occurring as of recently in and nearby to San Diego, it is important that with St. Patrick’s Day approaching, you are extremely cautious and careful should you decide to go out. Many people tend to drink over this holiday weekend and while some are responsible and will plan accordingly so they don’t have to drive drunk, others don’t and increase the level of risk on the roadway.

So, below we share a few things to keep in mind that help you stay safe and avoid being charged with DUI:

  1. If you plan on drinking, make alternate plans for you to get home.
  2. Never let a friend drive who has been drinking.
  3. Download ride share apps beforehand so you can contact a company when it is time to head home.
  4. Know your limits.
  5. Never drive drunk or tipsy. Buzzed driving is drunk driving.

Aside from drunk and distracted drivers, San Diego is expected to see some showers throughout the weekend which also contributes to accidents occurring. According to Patch.com, the weekend forecast is as follows:

If you want to avoid an accident this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, avoid drinking and driving or engaging in any reckless behavior that could contribute to a collision occurring.

Friday Night
Showers and temperatures around 54.

Saturday
A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61.

Saturday Night
A chance of showers, mainly before 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

So, should you decide to go out this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, be sure that you are driving with caution whether you are on your way out or heading back home. Perhaps you might even consider staying at home so you don’t run the risk of sharing the roadway with an intoxicated driver.

In the event you are involved in an accident or were already involved in one recently, remember to contact a San Diego accident lawyer so they can determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries.  The accident attorneys at Jeffrey E. Estes & Associates are highly qualified and capable of helping you recover what you are entitled to and ensuring your rights as an accident victim are exercised. To contact this firm, simply call 619-233-8021.

Hurricane Irma’s Aftermath Has Led to Some Tragic Accidents in Florida

As everyone seems to be getting back into their normal daily routines after being impacted by the deadly Hurricane Irma that devastated several parts of Florida, unfortunate accidents are back on the rise. Several accidents have already been reported by various news source sites, some citing the deaths of innocent individuals.

The first accident that occurred was in Clearwater, Florida, which is only about an hour or so away from Lakeland, and it involved two boats which collided into one another. Boating accidents, just as auto accidents, can occur for a number of different reasons, however, we aren’t sure what was the cause of this one. According to The Ledger, 52-year old Craig Butz of Altamonte Springs was riding in the boat with a four-year-old girl when their boat collided into another traveler. The accident happened in the Intracoastal Waterway near Clearwater Beach.

Although the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident that occurred, Craig Butz did not survive the boating accident after being taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. The young girl was flown to a St. Petersburg hospital, however, her name has not yet been announced.

The worker was pronounced dead on the scene.

More People Die in Accidents after a Hurricane Is Already Over

Palm Beach, FL – The actual hurricane is not what you need to worry about; more people die in accidents once a hurricane is over.

Before you run out to start cleaning up the mess Hurricane Irma left behind, you may want to wait a minute. Reports of storm surge, flooded streets, and traffic signs floating down the street are telltale signs that it’s not safe to go outside. But what about the most dangerous part of the storm: once it’s over?

According to a report by the director of the National Hurricane Center, Edward N. Rappaport, Atlantic tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes have killed almost 1,900 people in the United States from 2000 to 2014. Most would assume the fatalities were a result of accidents during the hurricane, i.e. flooding or wind; however, over half the deaths were caused by “indirect” factors, think fatal accidents during cleanup.

The National Weather Service defines direct deaths from hurricanes as fatal accidents that occur as a result of storm surge, flooding, and rip currents. Fatal accidents not caused by the weather are considered indirect deaths. The Washington Post reports that indirect deaths far outnumbered direct deaths for 70 percent of the past 10 hurricanes.

Have gotten into a hurricane-related accident in Palm Beach? Find a Florida accident attorney in your area today.

In fact, a study done by the Sun Sentinel discovered that debris cleanup accounted for a quarter of the 201 deaths reported during the 2004-2005 hurricane season. Some of the indirect deaths were caused by heart attacks from over-exertion, and falling off ladders, roofs, and trees while cleaning up after the hurricane.

But it doesn’t end there; records show that people who left storm shelters immediately after a hurricane passed oftentimes found themselves in a fatal accident. In total, there were 964 indirect deaths from the top 10 deadliest storms since 2000. Of those indirect deaths, 56 were from fatal car accidents, 32 were from accidents involving trees, 31 were from accidents in unlit stairwells, 27 were from electrocution, and 20 were from accidents with open flames.

Some storms cause different types of fatal accidents. In particular, 318 people died from cardiovascular ailments during Hurricane Katrina. Moreover, 15 of the 82 indirect deaths during Hurricane Sandy were because people kept generators in enclosed spaces, resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning.

Car Accidents in Florida During Hurricane Season

Hurricane season goes until November 30th this year, which means there may be plenty more storms heading our way. If you aren’t careful, hurricane-related car accidents can keep Florida accident lawyers busy all the way until 2018’s hurricane season.

Forecasters from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have predicted that the Florida will continue to see plenty of storm activity throughout the rest of the 2017 hurricane season.

How to Avoid Hurricane-Related Car Accidents in Florida

While the best way to avoid getting into a hurricane-related car accident is to stay inside at a safe location, you should still know how to avoid getting into a hurricane-related car accident:

  • Avoid driving over highway overpasses and bridges as these are most likely to suffer wind damage.
  • Do not drive through standing water.
  • Drive slowly and take your time; remember, getting to your destination safely is more important than getting there before everyone else.
  • Keep a strong grip on the steering wheel and have your headlights on at all times.
