The SUV initially lost control around East 64th Street and Madison Avenue. It first crashed into a luxury watch storefront, and then struck a 41-year-old woman who was at the entrance of the store. Traffic Accidents Cause Large Portion of Back and Spine Injuries

Traffic accidents are responsible for an average of 35 percent of back injuries each year.

Fort Lauderdale, FL- Nearly 80 percent of Americans will experience back pain at least once in their lives, the American Chiropractic Association reports. One of the leading causes of disability in the U.S. is a back injury. You can hurt your back many ways, and traffic accidents cause a large portion of debilitating back and spine injuries.

Traffic Accidents Cause a Large Portion of Back Injuries

Back injuries have many causes and often occur in the workplace. But a large proportion of back injuries, about 35 percent according to the Mayo Clinic, are caused by traffic accidents. Other causes of back injuries include:

Falls

Violent encounters

Sports or recreation

Why Are Traffic Accidents So Damaging to the Spine?

The back and spine are a complex structure with many moving parts. The spine can endure a good amount of impact, but it is not built to withstand the force of a car crash. A wreck can strain the muscles and nerves in the neck and back, and sometimes the spinal cord is damaged causing permanent or temporary disability.   It takes a very little impact to do permanent damage to the spinal cord.

When you meet with a Fort Lauderdale chiropractor, they will evaluate your injury and recommend a course of treatment for your back injury

Common Back and Spine Injuries

Whiplash and sciatica are two of the most common injuries for car accident victims, and either can leave them in immense pain.

Web MD describes whiplash is described as a neck sprain that causes damage to the joints between vertebrae, discs, muscles, and nerves.

Sciatica is another common back injury, and it occurs when the sciatic nerve is pinched because of a back injury and cause pain to shoot down the legs and up to the shoulders on one side.

Get Chiropractic Care in Fort Lauderdale

In a past study conducted by researchers at Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine, and the University of Washington School of Public Health found that a person who has a back injury can avoid a back or spine surgery if they see a chiropractor for regular adjustments. That study shows that chiropractic care is beneficial if you hurt you back.

These studies along with prior ones show back pain sufferers greatly benefit from chiropractic care. Manipulation of the spine and muscles is a safe and effective way to treat pain and improve a sufferer’s long-term outcomes. With regular chiropractic care, patients with a back problem require less medication and bed rest and need fewer sessions of physical therapy.

If you are a car accident victim or suffer a chronic back problem, you should see a chiropractor in Fort Lauderdale. USAttorneys.com recommends you make an appointment with HealthPoint Chiropractic as soon as possible. Arrange an appointment with a chiropractor today. Priest Charged in Florida Road Rage Incident

Aggressive driving contributes to 56 percent of fatal crashes in the U.S., according to the NHTSA.

West Palm Beach, FL- Aggressive driving and road rage are on the rise, and more and more often these troubling incidents lead to deadly crashes. Past studies have shown that road rage incidents are on the rise, resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. In recent months, there have been troubling incidents involving angry drivers who exact their revenge in the road and create hazards for other drivers.

Priest Brandished a Gun at Motorist on Florida

A priest from Fletcher, North Carolina was charged after he waved a gun at another motorist in a road rage incident in Florida.

ABC News Reports that William Rian Adams, 35, was driving near the Florida Turnpike in Palm City on Wednesday, July 5th when he tried to brake check another motorist he believed was too close to his rear. As the vehicle attempted to pass Adams’s vehicle, he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the victim and their passenger.

The above incident didn’t result in a traffic accident, but the priest who brandished his gun is facing two charges of aggravated assault, according to ABC News.

A priest has been arrested for a pointing a gun at motorists in a Florida road rage incident.

This incident is just the latest to grab national headlines. In May, a young woman about to go to college was fatally wounded in a road rage incident in Pennsylvania. A man driving a red truck drive by her and shot her in the head as she attempted to merge onto a highway. The woman died instantly, and the veered off the road crashing into a tree.

The driver who shot the young woman turned himself in earlier this month. His reaction to something as simple as another car trying to merge onto a highway was disproportional and inexcusable. It is also becoming more and more common.

Road Rage and Traffic Accidents

Aggressive driving and road rage is on the rise, and these troubling incidents can end with a devastating crash. And, just like the incidents discussed above, most road rage is set off by something most people would see as insignificant or can easily let go. In a study, AAA found that aggressive driving behaviors like speeding, tailgating, or passing illegally were a factor in nearly 56 percent of fatal crashes in the U.S.

Contact an accident attorney in West Palm Beach to learn your rights and decide what you should do to recover compensation.

The AAA also asked drivers what caused them to get angry and lash out at another motorist, and found that it usually happened for petty reasons. Drivers surveyed said they got angry because they were cut off or the other driver was going to slow. Whatever their reason, no one deserves to be harmed for something so insignificant.

Drowsy Driver Injures Five in Central New York

A box truck driver in Central New York fell asleep at the wheel and struck a van carrying five people.

Syracuse, NY- Most drivers know not to get behind the wheel when they’re drunk or on medication that can affect their driving abilities, but there is one impairment far too many drivers ignore: fatigue. A drowsy or fatigued driver poses the same dangers as alcohol-impaired or distracted driver, and yet too many motorists don’t think twice about driving when they’re tired.

Driver Fell Asleep Before Central New York Crash

New York State Police say that the driver of a box truck fell asleep just moments before colliding with a van carrying five passengers around 11:30 a.m. on July 4, 2017. CNYCentral.com reports that the box truck driver was traveling on Interstate 81 in Nedrow, New York when he dozed off and crossed the center median into the southbound lanes.

The box truck hit a van carrying five passengers. All five passengers, which included one child, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. CNYCentral.com says none of the injuries were serious.

The driver of the box truck was not injured, and it is unclear if they were issued a citation.

What Risks Are Associated with Drowsy Driving?

Approximately 45 percent of Americans say they are sleep-deprived or could use more sleep, according to the National Sleep Foundation. That sleep deprivation is a major hazard on the road affecting a motorist’s vision and decision-making skills.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drowsy driving “impairs performance” by delaying their reaction times and causing them to miss important visual cues. Drowsy drivers also doze off and leave their lane or the roadway. Like drunk drivers, fatigued or drowsy drivers are unaware that they are impaired and ignore sleepiness.

Drowsy and Fatigued Driving

The scope of drowsy driving is not entirely known because it is underreported. Some state law enforcement agencies don’t have a special category for drowsy driving and include such accidents under a blanket category like “driver error” or “other.” Police also rely on drivers to admit they fell asleep, and many won’t, for obvious reasons.

In recent analysis of national fatal crash statistics between 2009 and 2013, the Governor’s Highway Safety Administration found that drowsy driving was responsible for over 72,000 accidents. Additional analysis from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that 16.5 percent of nationwide fatal crashes involved a drowsy driver.

Separate Miami-Area Hit-and-Run Crashes Kill Two

Approximately 25 percent of car wrecks in Florida are hit-and-run accidents.

Miami, FL- Two recent traffic accidents in the Miami area left two people dead. Both of those crashes involved drivers who fled the scene.

Separate Hit-and-Run Accidents Kill Two around Miami

Two hit-and-run accidents in the Miami area over the past two weeks have left two people dead and police asking for help locating the drivers responsible for each accident.

The first accident occurred on June 26, 2017, in Davie. NBC reports that a man was hit by a red car as he was attempting to cross the road with a couple of friends. A witness told NBC that the man appeared to be intoxicated when he attempted to cross the road with two friends. The other two men made it across with no problem, but the third many were hit by a driver who fled and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second accident left a tourist dead in Fort Lauderdale while he was standing by his car on East Las Olas Boulevard as he attempted to take a photograph. The man, who is originally from New Jersey, was hit by a driver who fled the scene, according to the Miami Herald.

In both cases, police are still trying to locate the driver.

Are Hit-and-Run Crashes Common in Florida?

Sadly, hit-and-run crashes are rising across the U.S. but have remained consistent in Florida. National Highway Traffic Administration data shows that fatal hit-and-run accidents increased 13.7 percent nationally between 2009 and 2013. As for Florida, the state Department of Highway Safety and Motors Vehicles, 25 percent of accidents are caused by hit-and-run drivers.

Both of the accidents mentioned above involved pedestrians. That is line with AAA data which shows that six out of ten fatal hit-and-run victims are pedestrians.

There are many reasons drivers flee the scene of an accident but doing so can have severe consequences. Whether a driver flees because they have no insurance, they are drunk or just scared; it is a second-degree felony to leave the scene of any accident whether it involves injuries or not. A conviction for hit-and-run carries a four-year jail sentence.

An accident lawyer can help you recover compensation for your hit-and-run accident.

How Do I Recover Compensation if I’m in a Miami Hit-and-Run Driver?

When police are unable to locate a hit-and-run driver, the victim is unable to hold that driver accountable, but that doesn’t mean they cannot recover compensation. In such cases, a victim will have to deal with their insurer.

Under Florida law, all drivers are required to have car insurance to cover their accident-related expenses if an at-fault driver cannot be located. But medical care is expensive, and an insurance company may not offer a victim the amount of compensation they need. If you want to file an injury claim, let USAttorneys.com connect you with an accident lawyer in Miami. You will benefit from the negotiation skills of a lawyer, so we recommend you set up a consultation today.

Tesla Driver Killed in Florida Crash Ignored His Vehicle’s Warnings

Both the NTSB and NHTSA did not find any fault with Tesla’s autopilot system in a May 2016 crash in Florida that grabbed national attention.

Broward, FL- The American public Is distrustful of self-driving cars and a widely publicized fatal crash that occurred in May 2016 didn’t help ease fears of autonomous vehicles. Initially, the cause of the accident appeared to be the fault of his Tesla’s autopilot feature, but a National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) investigation found that the driver ignored his vehicle’s warnings.

NTSB Findings for Tesla Crash in Florida

Last May, an Ohio man was driving his newly acquired Tesla in Florida when he took a left turn into the path of a tractor-trailer. The man was using the auto-pilot feature on his vehicle when the turn was made and the impact occurred. The driver was killed.

Because the accident involved an emerging technology, the NTSB, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigated.

The NTSB report did not identify a cause of the accident but they did find that the driver ignored warnings to keep his hands on the wheel. The NTSB also found that the driver made no attempt to turn the wheel, brake or before the crash and was traveling 74 mph in a 65-mph zone.

Both the NTSB and NHTSA did not find any fault with Tesla’s autopilot system in a May 2016 crash in Florida that grabbed national attention.

“Autopilot is by far the most advanced driver-assistance system on the road, but it does not turn a Tesla into an autonomous vehicle and does not allow the driver to abdicate responsibility,” a spokesperson for the company said in June 2016 after the crash occurred. Tesla has not issued a statement regarding the NTSB’s findings.

According to USA Today, the NHTSA, who conducted a separate investigation, did not find any problems with Tesla’s self-driving system. Furthermore, the agency found that the Tesla driver should have seen the semi-truck coming seven seconds before the accident and attributed the crash to an “extended period of distraction,” USA Today reports.

Self-driving Autos and Accidents

Self-driving or autonomous cars and commercial trucks are the waves of the future, but they aren’t yet common yet, so there are issues that haven’t been tackled and won’t be for a long time. But when self-driving cars become common, there may be fewer traffic accidents, but there will still be accidents, and they will probably involve multiple self-driving cars. When that happens liability for these crashes will become an issue that will need to be tackled by the courts and personal injury attorneys.

The question of liability is a hurdle all accident victims encounter; they can overcome those hurdles by hiring a personal injury lawyer in Broward, Florida.

Overcome Liability Issues with an Accident Attorney in Broward

Most accidents in Florida don’t involve autonomous vehicles. Nevertheless, liability can be any problem for any accident victim. Cause and fault are cut and dry in some accidents, but they are not obvious in all cases. If you must overcome any issues with liability, you should retain an accident lawyer in Broward, Florida to investigate, gather evidence, negotiate with insurers, and, if necessary, build a civil claim on your behalf. USAttorneys.com can refer you to a local lawyer you can meet with and discuss how you can resolve your case with best results.
